July 2016 Meeting

On July 5th at the monthly meeting we will hear from Charles about our nemesis the Varroa mite. Robert will be presenting on basic beekeeping for all the new (and those that want to be new) beekeepers! Note that will be an apiary meeting this month but the topic will be a surprise.

6:00 – 6:45 Apiary – In Person Training by Charles Schafer
There are some interesting issues that are popping up with the nucs in the apiary. Come and find out how to diagnose a random issue and what needs to be done to fix it
7:00 – 7:30 Basic Beekeeping by Robert Clark
We are coming into a potential dearth of nectar in many places around the east side. Robert will talk about what should be done to make sure your bees will survive until they reach the knotweed flow in late August.
7:30 – 8:00 Tea Time
8:00 – 9:00 The Varroa Miteby Charles Schafer
Charles will be presenting on the Varroa mite. So come learn about the mite that if it was human proportions would be the size of a dinner plate.

Meetings are 7:00-9:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Meadowbrook Interpretive Center (directions to Meadowbrook) and are open to the public.
